Trainer Maryann Thexton ready to hit Caulfield Guineas!
Trainer Maryann Thexton from the Gold Coast is said to be quite excited about her wards' chances for the Caulfield Guineas in Melbourne this spring.
Love De Cause is Thexton's rising star and he is expected to come back from a short holiday in the next 10 days to prepare for the 1,600-metre extravaganza at Caulfield Racecourse in October. He will make one start in Brisbane before heading to Melbourne .
His stable mates Chilled and Za Magic could join him in the nominations for the Caulfield Guineas.
Chilled, one of six winners Maryann Thexton prepared from the 15 barrier trials at Doomben Racecourse on Tuesday, won his heat by 5½ lengths over 1,060 metres while Za Magic comes off from a fourth place finish in the 1,400-metre Listed Australia Post Stakes at Eagle Farm Racecourse in June.
"Both will be nominated for the Caulfield Guineas along with Love De Cause but they will all start off up here first and will have to run well before I send them away." said Thexton.
Thexton is not worried her three aspirants in the Caulfield Racecourse marquee event could struggle to make the final field.
Thexton rates Love De Cause as one of the best horses in her stable although he won only narrowly over 1,200 metres on debut at Doomben Racecourse on July 2. |
