Doomben Race Track is situated in the suburb of Ascot, 7 kilometers from the Brisbane central business district and is about 5.5 kilometers from the Brisbane Airport. Doomben Race Track is close to Doomben railway station, the terminus for the Doomben Line.

Doomben race Track is sometimes known as the 'Garden Race Track'. This is mainly due to the beautiful gardens and grounds that the Brisbane Turf Club has developed since its opening in 1933.

Doomben Race Track History

  • In 1923, the Brisbane Amateur Turf Club, one of the top racing clubs in the southern hemisphere, was formed.

  • In 1933, the Brisbane Amateur club took over Doomben which was the defunct Doomben Park Recreation Grounds Ltd. Doomben Race Track was opened for horse racing in the same year.

  • In 1982, Albion Park was sold to the Government and the BATC used the funds to upgrade its facilities at Doomben Race Track.

  • In 1998, Chief De Beers won his second Treasury Casino 10 000, a truly memorable feat.
