Love De Cause wins at Doomben, aims for Caulfield Guineas!
Love De Cause captured the 1,200-metre Jacobs Creek Sparkling Maiden at Doomben Race Track on Wednesday. Love De Cause beat Monashee Gold by a half-neck.
Love De Cause's trainer Maryann Thexton said that she now has the Group One Caulfield Guineas on her sights for her young ward after Love De Cause won at Doomben Race Track on Wednesday.
"He's one of the best horses in my stable and we're looking at sending him to Melbourne for the Caulfield Guineas and some of the other big three-year-old races in the spring." Thexton said.
Love De Cause's jockey Jim Byrne had glowing words for the colt soon after his Doomben Race Track victory. But he hastened to recommend wearing of blinkers for Love De Cause.
"It was a very nice win but he'll need blinkers in the future. As soon as he hit the front he wanted to stargaze." Byrne said.
Love De Cause was purchased as a future stallion prospect by the Jamaica Run Syndicate which plans to develop a stud on a small property at Guanaba Valley in the Gold Coast hinterland.
"My first job with him was to win a two-year-old race and we've done that now," trainer Thexton said.
"He was the second top-priced horse to go through the Horses In Training sale last year and he's beautifully bred.
"He's not really a two-year-old type but I've looked after him hoping to win a race with him this season. |
