Sylvan Court wins Electrical and Data Handicap at Moonee Valley!
Sylvan Court captured the 2,040m Electrical and Data Handicap at Moonee Valley Race Track on Monday.
Under the direction of jockey William Hernan, the five-year-old Sylvan Court was trailing Cancanelle in the straight but mounted a resurgent second effort on the rails to get up by long neck with Lady Zhivago a half head away third.
Veteran trainer Barry James admitted that he was surprised at Sylvan Court 's victory at Moonee Valley Race Track on Monday.
James said that Sylvan Court had kept improving with racing but he never really thought that she would become such an outstanding performer.
James had raved about Sylvan Court 's consistency. "I never thought she would win three mares' races in Melbourne ," James said. "She has proven me wrong and I'm very pleased about it."
James purchased Sylvan Court as a yearling in New Zealand . She has now triumphed in eight of her 23 starts and has earned close to $150,000 in stakes.
Unbeaten in two starts at Moonee Valley Race Track, Sylvan Court will now target the males in the Moonee Valley Country Cup (2040m) on June 21.
"I will give her her chance," James said. |
