Captain Bax ready to shine at Missile Stakes!
Captain Bax is looking for a shot at victory in the 1,100-metre Missile Stakes at Rosehill Race Track on Saturday.
Captain Bax connections, notably his trainer Kris Lees, have been delighted with his works since his second-place finish in the Ramornie Handicap at Grafton Race Track on the 16 th of July.
"He's been given a little freshen-up and has done so well and I'm expecting him to run a big race," Lees said.
Jockey Tim Clark will be astride Captain Bax at Rosehill Race Track for the Missile Stakes. Clark has been on top of Captain Bax in his last three starts and trainer Lees has utmost confidence in the duo.
"Tim knows the horse very well now and I'm confident that he'll make the right decisions on the day," Lees said.
Two starts back, Captain Bax scored an exciting triumph in the Pacesetter Stakes at Gosford Race Track to earn a crack at the double achieved by Takeover Target in 2004.
His connections have intimated that Captain Bax needs to be ridden patiently as he does not usually show bigness at the beginning. They hint at a late kick from him.
Nevertheless, Keen Commander is widely seen as the favourite for the Missile Stakes race at Rosehill Race Track. Typhoon Zed is the second pick while Danehill Smile is third favourite. |
