David Payne trio ready for Golden Rose at Rosehill!
Trainer David Payne says his trio of Golden Rose runners - Baci Amore, Emperor Bonaparte and Stripper - are ready to slug it out with the rest of the field in the $1 million feature on Saturday at Rosehill Race track.
"I'm happy with them all, Baci and Emperor have both drawn badly in 12 and 13 and that will make things a bit harder but they'll still be in there with good chances," David Payne said.
"Particularly Baci, he's a real surprise packet and keeps getting better ... I wouldn't put anything past him."
Baci Amore came in second to Rockdale two starts back in the Group One TJ Smith at Eagle Farm Race track and a was a last-start fourth to Desuetude in the 1,300-metre Group Three The Run To The Rose at Rosehill Race track on 16 August 2008.
Emperor Bonaparte came in third in that race.
Stripper has not raced since her victory in the Group Three Sweet Embrace at Randwick Race track on 29 March.
David Payne has given Stripper two barrier trials leading up to the Golden Rose, the latest when she was second over 1200m at Warwick Farm Race track on 15 August 2008. |
