New Warwick Farm track given glowing reviews!
Warwick Farm race track's new Viscoride training track was given positive reviews by trainers following recent criticism of its failure to handle the heavy rain in Sydney.
The Warwick Farm surface came under criticism on Thursday when it didn't drain adequately after a heavy downpour during the night.
However, some of Sydney's top trainers have attested that the track conditions were pretty good during Tuesday's workout session.
The new Viscoride training surface was built by the Australian Jockey Club (AJC) to accommodate an expected influx of horses, trainers and fans to Warwick Farm Race Track when the nearby Randwick Race Track is shut down in preparation for the World Youth Day celebrations in July.
Horse numbers are expected to swell to more than 1,000 at Warwick Farm Race Track during Randwick's downtime, which is until August 23.
While the jury is still out on how the synthetic track will stand up to the workload, AJC track manager David Hodgson said last week proved there was no perfect surface.
"What it showed is there is no such thing as an all-weather track," Hodgson said. |
