Warwick Stakes favourite is Racing To Win!
Racing To Win is the overwhelming favourite to win in the Group Two Warwick Stakes at Warwick Farm Race track on Saturday ( 23 August 2008 ). The Warwick Stakes, a traditional spring starting point for potential Cups horses and other feature race hopefuls, attracted nine contenders.
Racing To Win is a five-time Group One winner from the John O'Shea stable and is ahead of the David Payne-trained Gallant Tess in the betting for the 1,400-metre Warwick Farm Race track extravaganza.
Racing To Win's last foray in the race track was his dominant victory in the 1,400-metre Group One All-Aged Stakes at Randwick Race track in May. Trainer O'Shea is pleased with his ward ahead of his return.
"He wasn't out for long and is in good order and is fit and well," O'Shea said.
Racing To Win went on a year-long hiatus due to injury after a torrid run in the 2006 Cox Plate in which he was second to last. His next race was the 1,200-metre Group Two Expressway Stakes in February which saw him place fifth.
Racing To Win's All-Aged victory marked his return to the Group One winner's circle following his 2006 Epsom Handicap (1600m) triumph.
Jockey Hugh Bowman will be astride Racing To Win in the Warwick Stakes.
Bowman has scored on the gelding in the Apollo Stakes and the All-Aged and can't wait for the weekend.
"We're very happy with the way he's going, he's in great shape and has three wins over this trip," Bowman said.
O'Shea said Racing To Win's major target would be the 1,600-metre Group One George Main Stakes in September before a possible overseas trip to contest the Hong Kong International Mile at Sha Tin Race track in December. |
