Harlem Rocker wins Prince of Wales Stakes!
Harlem Rocker captured the $500,000 Prince of Wales Stakes at Woodbine Race Track on Sunday. The Prince of Wales Stakes is the second leg of Canada 's Triple Crown series.
Under the direction of jockey Eibar Coa, Harlem Rocker played the role of pace-tracker in the early stages and settled in the fifth spot. Pewter set the pace at times of :24.09, :47.40 and 1:11.98. Harlem Rocker kept his cool until the far turn when he launched an aggressive move that allowed him to seize the lead into the stretch.
A fierce challenge was then posed by a surprisingly strong East End Tap but this was repelled by Harlem Rocker as the latter was able to stay ahead and emerge victorious by 1¼ lengths.
Pronger, ridden by Chad Beckon, was another four lengths at third spot. Not Bourbon, the winner of the Queen's Plate and the favourite to win the Prince of Wales Stakes, faded to sixth place.
Order of finish from fourth to seventh spot is: Sebastian's Song, Deputiformer, Not Bourbon and Pewter. Took the Time scratched. All carried 126 pounds.
