Great Leighs Race Track is a thoroughbred horse Race Track in Great Leighs, near Chelmsford, Essex, England. Great Leighs Race Track is just about fifty miles from the UK 's largest racehorse training centre in Newmarket.
When it opened in April 2008, it was the first completely new race track in the UK in 80 years.
Great Leighs Race Track is owned by entrepreneur John Holmes and his son, Jonathan. Great Leighs Race Track was established with the aim of serving the horse racing needs of Essex, the largest unserved area in UK horse racing.

Great Leighs Race Track has an 8½ furlong, left-handed Polytrack oval. It has sweeping, slightly cambered bends that exceed Jockey Club specifications for an all-weather race track, which requires a minimum 135m radius bend.

It has a two-furlong home straight.

Its 10,000 capacity grandstand was used at the 2006 Ryder Cup.

Plans are afoot for a turf course inside the Great Leighs Polytrack. It is scheduled to be seeded in 2008, for use in late 2009 or more likely some time in 2010.
