Lone Star Park race track has a seven-storey, 280,000-square foot Grandstand that can accommodate about 8,000 spectators. Lone Star Park race track also has a 36,000-square foot pavilion for simulcasting. Other amenities are a Saddling Paddock, Jockey Quarters, Barn Area and Parking Area.
Lone Star Park race track's marquee event of the thoroughbred racing season is the Lone Star Million Day. It is held on Memorial Day and prizes of over $1 million are handed to winners of seven stakes races.

In November 1987, the people of Texas voted in a referendum to return pari-mutuel horse racing to the Lone Star State .

In April 1997, Lone Star Park race track opened before a crowd of 21,754.

In November 2002, renovation was completed and Lone Star Park race track had two 50-stall barns (200' x 80'), a 96-stall multipurpose quarantine barn (130' x 260'), six stable area dormitory buildings and two recreation rooms.

In 2004, Lone Star Park race track hosted the Breeders' Cup World Thoroughbred Championships. The seating capacity was temporarily increased for the Breeders' Cup to 50,000 people.
