Big Brown ready for Pimlico!
Kentucky Derby winner Big Brown is scheduled to arrive at Baltimore-Washington International Airport at 5:30 PM on Wednesday. Big Brown spent the last four weeks at Churchill Downs where he dominantly took the Kentucky Derby in an undefeated streak.
Big Brown will be arriving in Baltimore together with his Preakness Stakes competitors Racecar Rhapsody and Tres Borrachos. The three horses will be arriving at Pimlico race track an hour later.
Big Brown is seen to be heavily favored to win the Preakness Stakes and become the seventh horse in the past 11 years to go to Belmont Park with a chance to sweep the Triple Crown.
The last Triple Crown winner was Affirmed, who was victorious back in 1978.
Rick Dutrow, Big Brown's trainer, is expected to attend the post-position draw at 5 p.m. today at the ESPN Zone in Baltimore.
Gayego will be returning to challenge Big Brown at Pimlico race track. He would be the only Kentucky Derby runner returning to challenge Big Brown, and not since 1980 have only two Kentucky Derby horses appeared in the Preakness Stakes.
Trainer Paulo Lobo confirmed Tuesday that Arkansas Derby winner Gayego, who finished a troubled 17 th in Louisville, will be at Pimlico race track for Saturday's second leg of the Triple Crown.
Lobo said Gayego galloped 1¼ miles at Hollywood Park Tuesday morning and is scheduled to arrive in Baltimore on Wednesday afternoon following a cross-country flight with another Preakness contender, Yankee Bravo. |
